Tribal Goddess at the Royal Academy

Tribal Goddess - RA 2023

My piece was selected for the prestigious Royal Academy exhibition which ran from June 13th to August 20th. It is an annual event held in Burlington House, Piccadilly in central London and I believe it has happened every year since 1768. Tribal Goddess was my first piece to be exhibited and it was just fantastic to showcase my work amongst a diverse array of contemporary art.

Our Connection To Nature

When creating my sculptures, I think about energy, how would it look and how can I capture it? Bringing to life; the complex, beautiful, yet sometimes dark emotions within us. Using leaves entwined throughout my artwork, represents our affinity with Nature. Connecting to Nature helps us identify with our emotions; it listens without judgement and offers us peace, temporarily, allowing us to escape the demands of every day life. It gifts us the power to heal ourselves, whilst alleviating stress. It positively impacts our mental health as well as our physical health, and by being present in Nature, we can learn to let go of our negative emotions. Using the identity of the human form, I want to try and emulate these emotions that speak to others on a deeper level, creating something we cannot see or that will ever be seen but is within us all.
